What Makes Us Unique?

The Pathway BioMedX is a longitudinal ecosystem designed to train the next generation of physicians, scientists, bioengineers, and engineers by building a strong foundation in STEM during middle and high school. Through in-depth content and engaging, hands-on experiential learning, the program inspires students early and prepares them for long-term success.

More than just a STEM initiative, BioMedX provides comprehensive support at every stage from middle school through high school and prepare students to gain admission into competitive college programs, medical school, graduate programs, or professional STEM careers. Students benefit from structured academic guidance, college preparation, career counseling, course selection assistance, and dedicated mentoring.

At its core, BioMedX fosters a vibrant community of passionate students and experienced instructors who walk alongside each participant on their journey of learning, intellectual growth, and self-discovery.

Our Story

The founder, Dr. Lawrence B. Mensah, was inspired to start The Pathway Initiative following his own educational journey. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences from the University of the West of England, UK; a Master’s degree in Medical Genetics and Immunogenetics from Brunel University, UK; and a Triple Doctorate in Anatomy, Physiology, and Genetics from the University of Oxford, UK. He trained as a scientist and researcher at the University of Cambridge, UK, Harvard Medical School (HMS), and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Given his humble beginnings in a small town in Ghana, Dr. Mensah strongly believes that every child has talent and potential and that, with the right support, they can contribute meaningfully to society. We believe that with access and opportunity, determined and ambitious individuals can achieve fulfilling careers in any path they choose to pursue.

We invite you to join us in this critical work. Become one of our partners and help us make healthcare more equitable by expanding opportunities for underrepresented students pursuing education in medicine, biotechnology, or the life sciences.
